🛑 Importance of Regular Maintenance
Air and oil filters are the engine's "guardians." A dirty air filter reduces engine power and increases fuel consumption; a clogged oil filter leads to low oil pressure and inadequate lubrication, accelerating engine wear. A aged O-ring can cause oil leaks. Regular replacement of these three items is the most basic and important engine maintenance practice, effectively extending engine life and maintaining peak performance. Replacement according to the maintenance schedule is highly recommended.
Follow these steps to replace the air filter and oil filter. It is recommended to perform this operation during every oil change.
🔧 Preparation
- Ensure the engine is turned off and cooled to room temperature (to avoid burns).
- Prepare tools: oil filter wrench (or strap wrench), socket wrench, drain pan, funnel, new engine oil, and clean rags.
- Place the vehicle on level ground and engage the parking brake.
- Wear protective gloves to avoid contact with hot oil and chemicals.
🛢️ Step 1: Replace the Oil Filter
- Locate the oil filter cap (usually on the side of the engine) and remove the cover bolts using a socket wrench.
- Carefully remove the old oil filter (0800-011300-0004), noting that residual oil may spill out.
- Clean the filter mounting surface to ensure no old gasket material or debris remains.
- Remove the old O-ring (0800-014003) and clean the sealing groove.
- Apply a small amount of clean engine oil to the new O-ring and install it into the sealing groove.
- Install the new oil filter (0800-011300-0004) into the mounting base, ensuring it is properly seated.
- Install the filter cap and tighten the bolts to the specified torque (do not overtighten).
🌬️ Step 2: Replace the Air Filter
- Locate the air filter box (usually under the seat or at the front of the vehicle).
- Release the clips or remove the screws securing the air box cover, and carefully open it.
- Remove the old air filter element (0JYA-112000-20000), noting its installation orientation.
- Clean the inside of the air box using a damp cloth or vacuum to remove dust and debris.
- Remove the new air filter element from its packaging and check for any damage or deformation.
- Following the same orientation as the old filter, place the new filter into the air box.
- Ensure the filter sits flush with the box edges, with no gaps or twisting.
- Close the air box cover and secure the clips or screws, ensuring a tight seal.
✅ Step 3: Add New Oil and Test
- Locate the oil drain plug at the bottom of the engine and place the drain pan underneath.
- Remove the drain plug and allow the old oil to fully drain into the pan.
- Clean the drain plug and sealing washer, then reinstall and tighten to the specified torque.
- Using a funnel, pour the recommended amount and grade of new oil into the oil fill port (refer to the owner's manual).
- Start the engine and let it idle for approximately 1–2 minutes, checking that the oil pressure warning light turns off.
- Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to settle back into the oil pan.
- Check the oil dipstick to ensure the oil level is between the minimum and maximum marks, adding oil if necessary.
- Inspect the filter and drain plug for any signs of leakage.
💡 Maintenance Tips
- It is recommended to replace the oil and oil filter according to the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual (typically every 3,000–5,000 km or every 6 months).
- In dusty environments, shorten the inspection and replacement interval for the air filter.
- Do not use compressed air to blow out the air filter element, as this may damage the filter media and reduce filtration efficiency.
- The air filter element is a disposable part and is not washable or reusable.
- Always replace the O-ring when changing the oil filter to ensure proper sealing.
- Please verify that this part fits your specific vehicle model and year. Many vehicles share similar names but use different components depending on year or market region.
